FedStore Corporation Fulfills an $18 Million Laptop Contract for the Department of Veterans Affairs
Contract called for four different laptop models in 183 locations for a total of more than 12,000 laptops in all
ROCKVILLE, Md., July 19, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- FedStore Corporation, a leading IT solutions provider, today announced that it fulfilled an $18 million NASA SEWP contract issued at the Technology Acquisition Center (TAC) as part of an ongoing modernization effort. The contract called for FedStore to configure, deliver, and provide four years of warranty for four different laptop models to 183 different Department of Veterans Affairs locations nationwide. The VA asked for tablets, lightweight and medium weight laptops, as well as mobile workstations.
FedStore teamed with Dell, Inc. who provided the laptops to fulfill the contract.
The contract, awarded in September of 2010, was completed in a timely fashion in spite of several logistical challenges.
"The VA, like many federal agencies, is allocating its IT dollars for Lifecycle Management procurements which consolidate smaller purchases into larger ones and drive standards and consistency across the enterprise," said Skip Trahern, FedStore President. "Through these lifecycle procurements, the VA also ensures that the best mobile technology remains available to its employees. As workers become more and more mobile, they need computer equipment that will allow them to access important information quickly, accurately and sometimes in difficult situations. Our job is to bring the best equipment to VA workers so they can do their jobs better and more efficiently and serve their constituents faster."
This contract is part of the VA's ongoing efforts to upgrade and modernize the equipment it provides to its 300,000 employees.
"The VA teams worked alongside of FedStore's teams to ensure a smooth delivery, configuration and installation of the more than 12,000 laptops," said Mr. Trahern. "This contract required a great deal of coordination and after-the-fact adjustments, as are necessary in any large procurement. We are proud of the work we've done and as a testament to the good work of both teams, there have been no complaints or technical support issues."
