WHAT:
The Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco (FHLBank San Francisco) is developing a Quality Job Growth and Business Expansion Financing initiative that will direct $40 million in grants to fund organizations that support job development and small to mid-tier business expansion in underserved communities in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Phoenix, Sacramento, the San Francisco Bay Area, and other areas throughout Arizona, California, and Nevada. FHLBank San Francisco has invited these experts to discuss the best practices addressing the wealth gap by creating or expanding access to quality jobs that can help move the working poor into the middle-class and help small to mid-sized businesses grow and create more economic opportunity in underserved areas. By expanding good-paying jobs, FHLBank San Francisco hopes to increase the pool of homebuyers in its three-state district of Arizona, California, and Nevada. In the fall, FHLBank San Francisco will invite organizations to reply to an RFP requesting proposals for creating jobs and expanding small businesses. Rep. Virgie M. Rollins will give an opening speech citing the importance of addressing the wealth gap and creating jobs for residents of underserved communities.
