Find Craft Beer Nominated for 2009 Best App Ever Award
MEDFORD, N.J., Jan. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Beer connoisseurs will want to reach for their iPhone before they grab a beer stein, thanks to an award-winning application that locates local establishments selling craft beer or beer-making supplies.
Find Craft Beer -- nominated for "2009 Best App Ever Award for the Best Feels Like a Local App Category" -- uses the iPhone's GPS to determine one's current location and searches a database of craft beer locations within a specified distance. A city can be entered to find establishments in a different location.
The application searches a database of brew pubs, breweries, beer bars, beer stores and homebrew shops. A user can search with a specific distance and sort by distance or ratings. The app links to The Beer Mapping Project website, http://www.beermapping.com, where visitors can read reviews of craft beer locations.
Recent upgrades to the application include:
- An updated, real-time search algorithm
- Now can search the world as well as the U.S.
- Map viewable from all points of a search
- Beermapping.com images are viewable
- Shows current location (from GPS) or the city indicated
- New Search By Name feature
- Sort results by distance, location name or score
- Browser window now works in landscape view
Find Craft Beer is compatible with the iPhone OS 3.0 or later and the iPod touch. Coming soon is a version that will work on the Droid, Google Nexus One and other android OS phones.
Social media guide Mashable recently featured the Find Craft Beer app. Reviewer Jeana Lee Tahnk writes: "If big-name beers don't do it for you and you seek more of an off-the-beaten path microbrew, then this is a perfect app."
Find Craft Beer can be purchased for just 99 cents from the iTunes store. For more information, visit http://www.findcraftbeer.com.
