First Bloomberg Sustainable Business Summit To Be Held November 11-12 In New York
Senior Business Leaders to Address Latest Trends That Are Disrupting Consumer Markets, Shaping Future Business Models, and Creating Sustainable Value
ARLINGTON, Va. and NEW YORK, Nov. 3, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Bloomberg BNA and Bloomberg Sustainable Business and Finance today announced the inaugural Bloomberg Sustainable Business Summit. The event will feature senior corporate leaders from a range of industries discussing how they are innovating through sustainable business models that make good business sense and adopting best practices and processes throughout their organizations.
The conference takes place November 11-12 at Bloomberg's Global Headquarters in Manhattan and features VIP interviews interspersed with panel discussions and case studies with companies at the forefront of sustainable business practices. Accenture Strategy is the Summit Partner for the event, which begins at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 11 and concludes at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 12. Complimentary registration and additional information is available here.
Day one of the summit focuses on the future of the circular economy, in which new products, services and production processes decouple economic growth from the consumption of scarce natural resources and enable businesses and customers to do 'more with less.' The day features panels on new and emerging business models, including the sharing platforms that are disrupting markets in resource-efficient ways, a spotlight on companies that are taking advantage of the low-carbon economy, and trends in sustainable financial innovation, including impact investing and how investors have begun to recognize intangible and extra-financial factors such as environmental, social and governance (ESG) as value drivers.
Day two concentrates on sustainable value creation and includes discussions on the rise of the sustainable business agenda, the next-generation technologies that are emerging to reduce resource consumption, and KPIs that forward-thinking companies are measuring to track sustainability. Summit Partner Accenture Strategy will also release results from the 2015 U.N. Global Compact–Accenture study, Caring for Climate, which examines business leaders' views on the importance of climate change to their businesses and the potential for the upcoming United Nations Climate Change Conference in Paris to leverage the power of the private sector.
"We have assembled an impressive roster of speakers with wide-ranging backgrounds, who will provide attendees valuable perspectives on the issues critical to being a successful, sustainable business today and in the years ahead," said Scott Mozarsky, President, Cross Platform Business Division, Bloomberg BNA. "We look forward to a dynamic summit where attendees will hear firsthand about the growth of the circular economy and profitable new business models."
"As we approach the United Nations Conference on Climate Change in November, never has it been clearer that business and political leaders are more in agreement than ever on how to address climate change," said Peter Lacy, managing director, Accenture Strategy. "Companies are seizing the opportunity to create new innovations, generate new revenues and improve competitiveness through the circular economy and other radically new ways of doing business. This event brings together leading contributors to the policy and business debate."
"Smart companies understand that Sustainable Business makes good business sense" said Curtis Ravenel, Bloomberg's Global Head of Sustainable Business and Finance. "No longer is sustainability seen as a risk or compliance exercise. Smart companies are seeing how sustainable business practices are reducing costs and increasing efficiency, while leading companies are recognizing real business value in terms of revenue generation, new customers and market penetration by the looking at their business through a lens that includes environmental and social opportunity."
