First-Ever National Television Show Connects U.S. Combat Veterans To Potential Jobs/Employers
HIRING AMERICA Offers Actual Job Information/Career Guidance For Transitioning Military Personnel
NEW YORK, Sept. 27, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The first-ever national television show dedicated to jobs and career direction for returning U.S. military veterans is now being aired across the nation. Hosted by television news reporter Gigi Stone (Good Morning America, ABC News), HIRING AMERICA can be seen on the global "Pentagon Channel" as well as 32 local market television network and independent stations (list attached).
"Our military veterans are a national asset—not simply in war but in peace as well," observed retired Major General Mike Lehnert (USMC) who is also Vice Chairman of the Student Veterans of America. "Their courage, skill and commitment has kept our country safe. And now it's time for these same veterans to apply their talents to the nation's economy," he continued. "I applaud the work of HIRING AMERICA and encourage employers to bring these terrific troops into their workforce. It'll be the BEST business decision they ever make."
The thirty minute program will initially air 13 shows in consecutive weeks beginning Sept. 16th and continues through December 9th . And the hope is to produce an additional 13 episodes after that."
"This is a 'must-see' show for anyone transitioning from the military," remarked Brian Kumia, executive producer for programming of The Pentagon Channel. "Moving into the civilian workforce can be a challenge for our veterans. "Hiring America" highlights companies that are eager to hire former military with tips and advice to increase the odds of getting hired."
"HIRING AMERICA'S format and features are unique to television and our audience" related Bill Deutch, the creator and executive producer. "For example, we often will have CEOs or top executives on camera talking about job and career opportunities at their corporations specifically focused on veterans, " he noted. "Additionally, we'll have interviews with career consultants; veterans who have made the successful transition from military life to civilian jobs; top business and thought leaders who have served our country—in other words, highly informative and engaging content that will be both educational and entertaining."
Available jobs, criteria, relevant experience and interests will be discussed on each show — and then more information will be posted on HIRING AMERICA.NET. Veterans who feel the position is of interest to them will have the opportunity to connect directly with the veteran recruiters at these companies who are actively seeking to engage veterans and people with military backgrounds.
"I believe we've really created a great 'touch point" for our veterans seeking employment," Deutch stated. "And the responses from corporate sponsors have just been incredible. The generous support of companies such as Target, Wells Fargo, Siemens, Edward Jones, Pacific Gas & Electric, JetBlue, Eaton, Merck, ManTech, Iron Mountain and Life Technologies has made Hiring America possible."
"We look forward to a bright future for HIRING AMERICA!!"
