FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., Nov. 3, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Advent is the first season of the Christian church year; a glorious time of year leading up to Christmas. Fort Lauderdale's most historic church, First Presbyterian Church of Fort Lauderdale (First Pres) plans for Advent all year long and is celebrating the Advent 2016 season with a whole series of events!
Advent 2016 at First Presbyterian Church of Fort Lauderdale will commence with Hanging of the Greens, a concert in which a full Scottish pipe and drum band will lead a processional. This family service will feature congregational Christmas carol favorites, a musical performance by the church's talented children's and youth choirs, and a post-service gathering with refreshments. Hanging of the Greens will occur on November 27, 2016 at 5 p.m. This event is free and all are welcome to attend.
"Hanging of the Greens is the ultimate celebration to kick off the Advent season," said Robin L. McEachern, Minister of Music at First Presbyterian Church of Fort Lauderdale. "The bagpipes, drums and holiday-themed music is so cheerful it will have you singing along in your seat."
