First Presbyterian Church of Fort Lauderdale's Annual Concert Series Continues with Concert Featuring the West Point Glee Club
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., Oct. 19, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- On Sunday, November 8 at 4 p.m., First Presbyterian Church of Fort Lauderdale (First Pres) will present the West Point Glee Club for the second concert in its 2015-2016 Concert Series in the church's newly renovated Sanctuary, 401 SE 15th Ave. The concert is free to the public.
"At First Pres, music is such an integral part of the way we worship and is featured prominently in both our Traditional and Contemporary Worship services on Sunday mornings," said Robin L. McEachern, Minister of Music at First Presbyterian Church of Fort Lauderdale. "Our Concert Series is another way we are inviting people to connect through music at First Pres, so it was important for us to continue to offer these musical experiences for free and make it easy for anyone who is interested to attend."
The West Point Glee Club, from West Point Military Academy in New York State, has been representing the West Point Academy and the U.S. Army through music for more than 100 years. Under the direction of Constance Chase and accompanied by Andrea Shaut, the group has performed throughout the United States, including at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and the Grand Ole Opry.
The concert will feature some of the favorites from the Glee Club's repertoire, which encompasses all genres of American and international choral composition, from early music to contemporary.
