AKRON, Ohio, June 10, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- FirstEnergy Corp., (NYSE: FE) announced today that Jason S. Petrik has been elected assistant controller, Corporate. Petrik, who will join the company on June 16, will report to Vice President, Controller and Chief Accounting Officer Jon Taylor.
"Jason has a wealth of knowledge and experience in accounting and financial reporting, and we welcome him to FirstEnergy," said Taylor. "His comprehensive range of experience includes streamlining financial processes and ensuring accurate and transparent financial reporting."
Previously, Petrik was a business unit controller at Cliffs Natural Resources. He joined Cliffs in 2008, and held roles of increasing responsibility in the corporate and business unit organizations. Earlier in his career, Petrik worked for IT solutions provider Agilysys, Inc., as director of External Reporting and Compliance; and for Ernst & Young, LLP, as manager of Assurance and Advisory Business Services.
Petrik earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration, specializing in accounting, from Bowling Green State University. He is a certified public accountant.
