The second edition of Abu Dhabi's cultural signature festival, wows crowds of nearly 200,000 over 10 days at the Abu Dhabi Corniche
FLASH Entertainment, the region's leading live events company, today has successfully completed the Mother of the Nation Festival 2017, which took place at the Abu Dhabi Corniche from 26 March to 4 April. Working in close coordination with organizers, Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi), the festival was fully produced by FLASH Entertainment.
The festival celebrated, commemorated and honoured the inspirational values of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, President of the General Women's Union, Chief Executive Officer of the Family Development Foundation and President of the Higher Council for Motherhood and Childhood.
Building on their involvement in 2016 for the inaugural Mother of the Nation Festival, FLASH was commissioned by TCA Abu Dhabi to conceptualise, design, produce and deliver the widely acknowledged festival on a 123,000 square meter area at the Abu Dhabi Corniche. More than 4,000 staff worked long days and nights to develop this interactive festival and bring to life its diverse elements including the engaging zones with more than 100 workshops and activities.
"The Mother of the Nation Festival is one of Abu Dhabi's most important annual celebrations, and it was incumbent on us to deliver an experience that residents and visitors to the UAE could engage with which reflects the progressive vision of the nation's most influential female role model," said Sultan Al Dhaheri, Acting Executive Director Tourism at Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority.
"Public support for the festival's second edition has been phenomenal, and the diligence and professionalism displayed by FLASH entertainment to create a compelling programme of performances and highly engaging activities has guaranteed visitors the opportunity to enjoy the festival's wide-ranging attractions. The diversity of the festival programme and lifestyle experiences clearly resonated with visitors, and are a fitting tribute the values of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima," added Al Dhaheri.
"World-class partnerships are intrinsic to our business model. TCA Abu Dhabi recognizes that we are experienced at working with some of the world's greatest organizations to produce city-wide festivals and community events that support the Abu Dhabi plan, such as Abu Dhabi Science Festival and Yasalam. Notably, our experience in delivering the culturally important and high-profile official UAE National Day Celebrations and Cavalia at the Qasr al Hosn Festival cements our value proposition. Emirati expertise underpins our ability to showcase and celebrate the strong heritage and rich history of the nation, whilst we promote diversity in all that we do," said John Lickrish, CEO of FLASH Entertainment.
"We are honoured and privileged to have delivered the Mother of the Nation Festival 2017. FLASH reinforces its commitment to supporting the values of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima, and to creating an unforgettable and interactive event to share these with the community. We believe strongly in nurturing the talent of our youth, growing sustainability and helping to deliver the critical message of the advancement of women," he added.
The Mother of the Nation Festival celebrates the progressive vision of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, showcasing the nation's inspirational values and efforts towards conservation and sustainability, while encouraging future generations to pursue a legacy of empowerment and responsibility.
Designed by FLASH in an updated footprint for 2017, the new festival site stretched 1km along the Abu Dhabi Corniche. Bringing something for everyone, the themes of conservation and sustainability were demonstrated throughout the different zones of the festival, as visitors were encouraged to follow an interactive "walk of progress". Embracing the spirit of collaboration and community, the festival showcased myriad fun activities, events and performances for all the family, in a diverse display of empowerment for all cultures.
The blend of community, outdoor and culturally diverse activities throughout the festival is testament to FLASH's dedication to create a celebration of modern accomplishments and forward-thinking innovation.
For many years, FLASH has been committed to support the Abu Dhabi Government in showcasing and preserving the nation's strong heritage and history. Our citywide, cultural community festivals include Mother of the Nation 2016, Yasalam (delivered annually since 2008) and the UAE National Day Celebration 2015.
FLASH values partnerships as critically important; by working closely with international sports and entertainment organizations such as Live Nation, FIFA, The AFC and UFC, the company is well on its way to achieving its mission of growing from the region's premier live events company to a globally-recognized peerless entertainment organization.
