Florida's Circus Arts Conservatory (CAC) Co-Presents The 2017 Smithsonian Folklife Festival in DC

SARASOTA, Fla., July 20, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The 50th Anniversary Smithsonian Folklife Festival closed on July 9th, following 2 weeks run in DC. This year's festival focused on the international world of Circus Arts. CAC presented 3 major performance programs and hosted circus troupes and performers from all over the world in the only Big Top on the National Mall and at daily demonstrations in the Arts and Industries Building and 20 venues across The Mall.

The 2017 Festival provided opportunities for hundreds of thousands of visitors and global media to experience Circus Arts and was presented by the Smithsonian's Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage, the National Park Service, CAC and The John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art, in partnership with Visit Sarasota, the AYCO and ACEA.

Jennifer Mitchell, Managing Director of the CAC said, "Our invitation to co-present by The Smithsonian Folklife Festival, signifies the positioning and respect that the CAC legacy and cast garner in the International Circus Arts community. We were thrilled to showcase 100 of our cast members and crew along with $1 million of performance programming free-of-charge to festival attendees."

The festival and Big Top played host to amazing array of performances from Circus Sarasota, Sailor Circus, Cirque De Voix, Circus Juventus and Circus Universoul. Additionally, visitors experienced outdoor flying trapeze, Circus Science and education programs and narrative, storytelling and circus stages on the National Mall.
