Former State CIO Shanna Rahming Joins SDI Presence

CHICAGO, April 1, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- IT managed services provider (MSP) and consultancy SDI Presence LLC (SDI), announced today former state CIO Shanna Rahming has joined the firm as a Senior Delivery Executive. Shanna will oversee IT managed services program delivery within the firm's large government account portfolio.

Prior to joining SDI, Shanna was the Chief Strategy Officer for the State of Illinois, directing comprehensive strategies, IT governance and rapid results planning programs for the State's Department of Innovation Technology (DOIT). As part of this effort, Shanna stood up an Enterprise Project Management Office (PMO) to implement standard processes and procedures impacting all agencies and IT projects, as well as coordinate the State agencies' innovation, technology, and digital transformation priorities. Before her role in Illinois government, Shanna was the Chief Information Officer for the State of Nevada, where she managed over 180 IT staff members and a $60M state-wide IT budget. As CIO, Shanna instituted the Nevada Office of Cyber Defense and Coordination, secured Homeland Security funds to improve the cybersecurity posture for the State, and helped Nevada become one of only 7 selected states with federally-funded Cyberstart scholarships. Shanna drove single sign-on, identity access management, data center consolidation, and Office 365 deployment throughout the State. She also streamlined IT procurement resulting in over $10M in savings, and pre-negotiated state-wide IT contracts that allowed local municipalities access to significant volume discounts.

Before her CIO position, Shanna held executive positions at the Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) where she managed a staff of over 50 to operate the higher ed's computer labs and help desk program for faculty/staff and students. Along with modernizing the student experience online, Shanna led the implementation of PeopleSoft ERP to include 7 NSHE institutions, which included user portals and mobile access. Earlier in her career, Shanna held consulting and management positions with Hyatt Gaming, InfoSearch International, Washoe Health System and Bally's/Reno Hilton.

Listed as a Top 50 Women in Technology by State Scoop, Shanna has held multiple board and committee positions including with the University of Nevada Reno, Homeland Security, National Association of State Chief Information Officers (NASCIO), and the Corporate Innovators Council in Chicago. Active in the NASCIO and the Government Managers of Information Systems (GMIS), Shanna is a frequent speaker in IT industry forums including the Illinois Digital Summit, Nevada Digital Summit, and Government Technology magazine's CIO Roundtables. Shanna holds certifications in Help Desk Management, Leadership International, System and Workflow Administration, FEMA Incident Command, Voice and Data Security, Information Security Management, and Project Management.
