Former Supreme Court Justice Stevens, Attorney General Holder to Speak at American Law Institute Annual Meeting
PHILADELPHIA, May 15, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The American Law Institute (ALI), the leading independent organization in the United States producing scholarly work to clarify, modernize, and improve the law, will hold its 89th Annual Meeting on Monday, May 21 through Wednesday, May 23 at the Mayflower Hotel in Washington, DC. The Annual Meeting combines important addresses and intellectual debate, and draws more than 600 judges, lawyers, and law professors from the United States and abroad.
Speakers at the meeting include:
- John Paul Stevens, Associate Justice (retired), Supreme Court of the United States
Monday, May 21 – 2:00 p.m. - William F. Lee, partner at WilmerHale and ALI Life Member, Class of 1987. He will speak about the power of the crowd in law practice and education.
Tuesday, May 22 – 12:30 p.m. - Nina Totenberg, Legal Affairs Correspondent, National Public Radio. She will speak about ethics and the U.S. Supreme Court.
Tuesday, May 22 – 7:45 p.m. - Eric H. Holder, Jr., Attorney General of the United States
Wednesday, May 23 – 9:00 a.m. - Trevor Potter, a member of Caplin & Drysdale's Washington, DC office and former commissioner and chairman of the Federal Election Commission, who represents Stephen Colbert and his SuperPAC, "Americans for a Better Tomorrow, Tomorrow." He will speak about campaign finance in a post-Citizens United world.
