DENVER, Dec. 18, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Lloyd Lewis, President, arc Thrift Stores announced today that Frances Owens, former First Lady of Colorado, has joined the organization as Community Relations Director. Frances Owens comes to Arc with vast experience in the nonprofit sector. Over the years Frances has volunteered her time and expertise to many charitable organizations throughout the state. Some of these organizations include Anchor Center for Blind Children, Developmental Pathways, Learning Ally, Samaritan's Purse-Operation Christmas Child, Children's Hospital Colorado, The Colorado Historical Society, Autism Society of Colorado, Women's Heart Health, Habitat for Humanity and Denver Health Foundation's Newborns in Need. Frances served as First Lady of Colorado from January 1999 through 2006. She was responsible for spearheading the privately funded, long-term project of renovating and restoring the Governor's Residence at Colorado's historic Boettcher Mansion.
Her commitment to the community has continued following her years as First Lady. With a passion for the nonprofit sector, Frances has dedicated much of her time and talent to developing strong and effective relationships between communities, corporations and nonprofits. In her role as Community Relations Director of arc Thrift Stores, Frances will be responsible for promoting public awareness, strategically communicating arc's mission in the community, and building strong public relationships.
