CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas, Feb. 14, 2014 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Local church Fellowship of Oso Creek invites the community to shine a spotlight on love this Valentine's Day weekend by attending its third annual Photizo fundraiser event. The free event will be held Saturday, February 15, at 6:30 p.m. and features appetizers, live music, and a silent art auction.

Deriving its name from the Greek word Photizo, meaning "to give light" or "to give understanding," the event aims to raise awareness as well as funds for missions the church sponsors, which include The Station Church and Adoption and Foster Care Alliance of the Coastal Bend in Corpus Christi as well as missionaries working with orphans and families in Ecuador. "We are excited to host this event again," said pastor and event host Matt Brennan. "The atmosphere will be great for a Valentine's weekend date, and the proceeds will go directly to mission projects." Those attending Photizo will have the opportunity to meet with missionary representatives.
Since the event is free, Photizo's 2014 fundraising efforts will be in the form of a silent auction, which will include more than 70 pieces of original artwork, jewelry, and crafts. "Starting bids will vary from a few dollars to a few hundred," said Brennan. "This way, all guests will have a chance to go home with a beautiful new piece of art." The church encourages those attending to donate original artwork for the silent auction. Those interested in making a donation must complete an artist release form. Artists from all backgrounds are invited to donate pieces.
In addition to the silent auction, Photizo 2014 will also feature a concert by local recording artist, teacher, and worship pastor Steve Garcia. "Steve performs some of the finest music in the Coastal Bend," said Brennan. The free event will also include appetizers, treats, and sweets from area sponsors.
Brennan has been promoting the event. He and event chairperson Jade Payne discussed the event on KBNJ 91.7 FM, and Brennan will be on KIII 3 News the morning of the event.
