Recent headlines demonstrating the devastating effects of tornados have reiterated the need for proper disaster preparedness planning. HCCS is hoping to assist organizations with those plans by providing free online disaster preparedness training to healthcare staff and emergency responders. The HCCS CARES program began in 2011 as a way for HCCS to give back to the healthcare community after a series of natural disasters occurred both nationally and internationally. Now, due to demand and the continued urgent need for organizations to be in a state of readiness, HCCS is extending the program for an additional year.
"'HCCS CARES' is our way of giving back to the community and helping our healthcare infrastructure prepare for what may come," says Ben Diamond, President of HCCS.
The Bioterrorism and Disaster Preparation course educates healthcare staff on various types of disasters and "the environment of care." It also outlines accreditation requirements during disaster drills, the four phases of disaster management, and the roles and responsibilities of staff members.
HCCS online compliance training courses are in use at hundreds of healthcare institutions across the country to provide recurring compliance training for staff and administrators. The courses are designed to change behavior and maintain compliance with changing and emerging regulations. The online courses are customizable, easy to understand and updated annually or more often as regulations require.
"We can't prevent natural disasters, but preparing healthcare workers can lessen the suffering of the individuals involved," says Mr. Diamond.
Participation is complimentary and there is no obligation. Participants may register at www.hccs.com/hccscares.
