Freelancer.com Announces Automated Charity Bot Altruisio as Winner of US$30,000 API Contest
SYDNEY, Sept. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Freelancer.com, the world's largest outsourcing marketplace, today announced Altruisio, the world's first charitable robot, as winner of the US$30,000 Freelancer.com API competition.
Altruisio is a concept bot built upon FreelancerAPI, the world's first programming interface for managing humans from software. Designed by Pavel Andreyev, a software developer from Russia, Altruisio's main responsibility is to collect funds for charity campaigns and manage creative marketing projects to put these funds to work.
The idea for Altruisio came from Pavel's love for charitable work, "My goal for this project was to create an environment in which an artificial machine could do something for the good of humanity. Since Altruisio has no personal needs, it keeps no money for itself, freeing up all funds it raises to go straight to the charity!"
"We had a lot of contenders for the top spot, but Pavel's creative use of the FreelancerAPI just blew us away," said Matt Barrie, Chief Executive of Freelancer.com. "Pavel built an interesting and fun automated solution that runs on FreelancerAPI. The fact that Altruisio is for the benefit of philanthropy makes it all the better," Barrie concluded.
Andreyev takes home US$10,000 cash as grand prize winner. "I'm humbled by this award," he said. "This money will allow me to continue my work and gives a jump start to Altruisio and the charities it hopes to assist," he continued.
