Freelancer.com Launches World's Largest Internet Scavenger Hunt - US$50,000 in Cash Prizes to be Won
Global competition challenges teams to complete over one hundred tasks for cash prizes; launch coincides with CEO Matt Barrie appearing at SXSW 2012 as a Top 20 featured speaker.
SYDNEY, Feb. 23, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Freelancer.com, the world's largest outsourcing and crowdsourcing marketplace today announced it will start the world's largest Internet Scavenger Hunt, worth US$50,000, on March 9 to coincide with Chief Executive Matt Barrie's appearance as a Top 20 featured speaker at SXSW 2012.

The Freelancer.com Internet Scavenger Hunt is a two week challenge comprising over one hundred cryptic tasks. The 2012 Freelancer.com Internet Scavenger Hunt list will be released at 5pm EST (New York) on March 9 and the hunt will close at 6pm EDT (New York) on March 25.
"Anyone in the world can compete to share US$50,000 in prize money. Teams from across the globe will be able to join forces in order to solve problems and take out the Grand Prize," Barrie concluded.
Cash prizes include a US$25,000 Grand Prize, a US$10,000 Second Prize, US$5,000 Third Prize, as well as daily cash prizes of US$1,000 throughout the course of the hunt for the team scoring the most points.
A leaderboard will be run on the scavenger hunt website throughout the event, as well as at the Freelancer.com stand at SXSW in Austin, Texas.
