Fresenius Medical Care Announces Creation of Global Medical Office
Appoints Dr. Frank Maddux as Global Chief Medical Officer and Dr. Robert Kossmann as Chief Medical Officer for North America; Continues Focus on Driving Clinical Excellence and Adoption of Home Dialysis Therapies
WALTHAM, Mass., March 20, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Fresenius Medical Care, the world's largest provider of dialysis products and services, announced today that it has appointed Dr. Frank Maddux as Global Chief Medical Officer and Dr. Robert Kossmann as Chief Medical Officer for North America. In addition, Dr. Jeffrey Hymes, Chief Medical Officer for Fresenius Kidney Care, will expand his role to also serve as Senior Vice President of Clinical and Scientific Affairs for Fresenius Medical Care North America. The newly created Global Medical Office seeks to further advance the application of clinical science and facilitate the exchange of knowledge across the company's global network to ensure high quality outcomes for patients worldwide.
Dr. Maddux is a physician, IT entrepreneur and healthcare executive with more than 30 years of experience. He has been working for Fresenius Medical Care since 2009. He previously served as Executive Vice President for Clinical & Scientific Affairs and Chief Medical Officer for Fresenius Medical Care North America with responsibility for the delivery of high quality, value based care for the largest integrated renal care network in the U.S. His outstanding expertise and research interests have been focused on the quality of care for chronic kidney disease patients.
Dr. Kossmann trained in nephrology at the University of Washington in Seattle and practiced nephrology in Santa Fe, New Mexico for 20 years. He joined Fresenius Medical Care in 2014, overseeing the clinical research, development and distribution of the company's products and pharmaceuticals throughout North America. He has been instrumental in helping guide the nephrology field with leadership as a past president of the Renal Physicians Association.
Dr. Hymes has more than 30 years of experience in leading medical operations in both nephrology practices and multiple dialysis organizations. In addition to his expanded clinical and scientific affairs responsibilities, he will continue his support of Fresenius Kidney Care as its Chief Medical Officer where he has spearheaded multiple translational medicine initiatives.
