ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., Dec. 2, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Animal House Pet Centers, with two stores locally in St. Petersburg, Florida, announces the fact that the building it purchased from the RTC (Resolution Trust Corporation: that arm of the Federal government responsible for the liquidation of the thousands of excess bank branches in the late '80s and early '90s) in 1991 and in which it has been operating its retail pet and pet supply business at the corner of 4th Street North and 62nd Avenue North for the past 20 years, has just been sold ... to a credit union!
Achieva Credit Union closed on the sale on November 16th and must figure that the location and building will be a great fit for their expanding business in Florida. Achieva has made no mention as to how they intend to use the existing vault which Animal House once used for Vietnamese pot bellied pigs. (It was a piggy bank, don't you know!)
Animal House has taken this opportunity to move closer to 90% of their customers by moving south just a little over 1 mile to the North East Park Shopping Center - Publix/Stein Mart/CVS - just off 4th Street North on 38th Avenue.
Animal House vacated the "bank" on November 10th and opened the new location in what was the old Hallmark Card store next to CVS on November 15th. They continue to carry an in-depth selection of pets and pet supplies, with over 30 brands of the best and most popular dog and cat foods in stock.
Animal House Pet Centers is a privately owned family business that has owned 15 retail pet store locations over the past 38 years and has operated this particular business on 4th Street in St. Pete since 1983. This will be their 4th location in the busy 4th Street corridor over the last 27 years. New location hours are: Monday-Saturday - 9 AM - 8 PM; Sunday - 11 AM - 5 PM.
