From Going Blind to Challenging Hollywood, Ulysses Alridge Claims to Have the Formula
SAN ANTONIO, June 14, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Ulysses Alridge is a young man who started using various art forms to express himself and channel his inner demons from being physically and sexually abused. He has begun the process of launching his own entertainment and multimedia company that does the same for others. The new company, "Public Display of Affection," will support the development of new works by up and coming artists in music, literature, TV and film, which celebrates diversity and community.
He is launching a Kickstarter campaign to fund this development.
Originally from Laurel, Mississippi, Alridge moved to the San Antonio, to pursue his art. But within months he was struck by an incurable eye disease. Only wishing to move forward, Ulysses received the minimal amount of treatment, then jumped right back into his routine. Motivated by the idea of being blind, he pushed nonstop on writing and pursing the art, which held his sanity. He has been working diligently on production for the new television series he wrote titled "Dominance." While writing and directing your own TV show sounds exciting, it hasn't been the easiest for the artist. To overcome the obstacles and challenges he has faced Ulysses has chosen to start his own company with the talent and connections he's made.
What Do Others Say about Ulysses?
"In over 20 years as a writer, director and actor, I have never met a more prolific and driven young artist," said Robert Anglin.
"We liked what we've heard!! We can honestly say we haven't come across anyone like you sound wise. Your regional sound has nationwide appeal and it is honest," said Paul Travers, Scout, Big Picture Media, LLC.
"It was an absolute pleasure working with your group. The video (Public Display Of Affection) made for Angeleyes Foundation has gotten so many good reviews, I truly appreciate your creativeness and your insight. Your team truly captured Angeleyes Foundation mission," said Don Foster, founder of Angeleyes Foundation.
About the Kickstarter Campaign
"We have multiple projects in preproduction for family and children. We also have films that will attack issues like human trafficking and domestic violence. There's a project I definitely see Wesley Snipes in. Another I want Jackie Chan for. So, if you could throw that out there," says Alridge.
On the Kickstarter, there are over thirty rewards for giving, ranging from simple credit on the future "Public Display of Affection" website to t-shirts to full movies and being in one of the movies. The minimal goal is $25,000. This will allow Ulysses and his team the ability to solidify all legal matters in making "Public Display of Affection" a business, continue current productions, and more importantly get it into our hands. Their ultimate goal of $250,000 and more will grant "Public Display of Affection" access to some of the latest film and sound equipment. This will enable them to bring us movies like "Rango," "Hulk," and "Gravity."
"Public Display of Affection" will be responsible for film projects of course, but they are also looking to have their own publishing like titles from Ulysses, himself, and along with others aboard his team. Music of different genres will be produced from the company as well. With your help, PDA is looking do many things with many artists.
