From Onion Fields To The Federal Reserve: HNBA Past President Roman Hernandez Moves Latinos Forward

WASHINGTON, Jan. 14, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- This month, Roman Hernandez began serving a three-year term on the Board of Directors of the Portland Division of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco. The Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco serves as the 12th District of the U.S. Federal Reserve Bank system, and consists of Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington, Guam, American Samoa, and the Northern Mariana Islands. In his new role, Mr. Hernandez will address economic issues confronting the United States.

For the Hispanic National Bar Association (HNBA), and the U.S. Latino community in general, the appointment marks a milestone set by a man who, by example, has defined the track towards national leadership. Mr. Hernandez's appointment is one more step taken by this extraordinary leader whose journey began while harvesting onions in eastern Oregon weeks before he set off for college.

Mr. Hernandez served as National President of the HNBA (2009-2010), and as founder and President of The HNBA Legal Education Fund (2009-2012). An equity shareholder in the Portland office of the prestigious law firm of Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt, Mr. Hernandez ranks among the best of lawyers in America. Mr. Hernandez has received many prestigious awards and recognitions for his service to the legal profession, the Latino community, and the United States. (See http://www.hnba.com/news-events/members-in-the-media/)  His strong character, unshakable integrity, and significant accomplishments set Mr. Hernandez apart as one of America's leading and most influential of leaders.

"The HNBA is proud that one of its own has received this appointment, and we hold it forth as symbolic of how under its own force the Latino community continuously and upwardly advances, including from America's migrant fields to its most important board rooms," said HNBA National President Peter M. Reyes, Jr.
