From Street Dog to Police Dog Crowdfunding Campaign Aims to Save Dogs, Aid Struggling Police Departments & Protect our Nation's Schools From Guns/Drugs
Universal K9 has today announced the launch of the "From Street Dog to Police Dog" crowdfunding campaign via Indiegogo, geared to save dogs from local animal shelters while simultaneously aiding police departments and schools throughout the US
SAN ANTONIO, June 24, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Universal K9 has a long history of charitable programs aimed at protecting dogs and benefiting US police departments, so the company's contribution to the "From Street Dog to Police Dog" crowdfunding campaign certainly fits the mold. However, the new campaign has very big aims.
"From Street Dog to Police Dog" will benefit police departments and thousands of schools struggling with funding issues that make them unable to afford police dogs or handler training while simultaneously preventing dogs from being destroyed by animal shelters. The campaign's goal is to help raise $300,000 through Help Dogs Help Us.
"It's a lot of money," says Universal K9 Manager Brad Croft. "We've got thousands of police departments and thousands of schools that can't afford narcotics and explosives dogs, and we've got countless dogs in need of saving. Police departments and schools have to find some way to afford the handler training, vehicle cage, vehicle stickers, dog food, training aids and veterinary care for the dogs. This campaign will help police departments and schools get the funding needed, while also making sure these animals aren't destroyed by overcrowded shelters."
Campaign backers will earn rewards for their contributions. Several reward tiers will be available, including one that allows families to save two dogs on their own. For a donation of $500, Universal K9 will locate any breed of dog the family wants from the company's vast network of shelters, fully train the dog for obedience, and then send the animal to the family. On top of that, this donation also gives another dog to a police department or school, it's a win-win scenario.
