MedMen, the foremost turnkey management company providing services for the cannabis industry, has been focusing for the last two years on Henderson, the second-largest city in Nevada. The approval, which amounts to the first full suite of licenses in the state for the company, allows MedMen to complete the building permit process and begin operations in the city.
"This feat is the culmination of hundreds of hours of hard work and months of advance preparation for a very complicated and time-consuming process. The approval is validation of our skills as a knowledgeable consulting team, one that knows how to shepherd applications through a difficult, multi-tiered system," said MedMen Managing Partner Adam Bierman. "Most importantly, it is a testament to our strength, and reaffirms our national presence as a leader in the medical marijuana industry."
The company obtained a state license in November, and received the full licensure during a recent special meeting of the City Council. At that meeting, Mayor Andy Hafen and the Council gave unanimous approval for the Conditional Use Permits and Business License after assessing MedMen's security, community impact, and overall team strength. Former U.S. Sen. and Nevada Gov. Richard Bryan served as the company's representative during the meeting. The permits were obtained under the name MedMen Of Nevada II, with MedMen managing the properties.
"We are now ready to start business in the state," said Mr. Bierman. "But this development also sets the stage for further approvals among the five remaining state licenses for which we are also seeking local permits. We have successfully laid the groundwork to continue building the national momentum behind MedMen, proving our abilities in the most viable state in the country now for this industry."
The next steps for the group will be to go through similar local processes in the other jurisdictions in which MedMen received state approval. Those jurisdictions include Carson City, Sparks, and Unincorporated Washoe County. The team at MedMen anticipates completing local licensing processes in these areas by summer of this year.
