Further Workshops Announced for ATC Global 2013
LONDON, March 5, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --
The 23rd ATC Global Exhibition and Conference is finalising details ahead of it the annual industry gathering that takes place next week at the RAI Amsterdam from 12-14 March 2013.
Organisers of the event today announced additional sessions to the already extensive free-to-attend Workshop and Seminar programme that will run across the three days. The Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA) and ACARE Workshop, taking place on Wednesday 13 March at 10.30am, will focus on five challenges and how to participate in Horizon 2020.
This new workshop will be held in association with and supported by Aera-Pro, Advisory Council for Aviation Research and Innovation in Europe (ACARE), European Commission and Seventh Framework Programme. The workshop will present the context and content of the SRIA, the new roadmap for aviation research, development and innovation, that will outline the main threads of technical, operational and strategic actions to achieve the ambitious goals set by Flightpath 2050 (Europe's vision for Aviation beyond 2020).
Additionally, a session around Integrating Remotely Piloted Air Systems (RPAS) into European Civil Airspace, in association with UVS International, takes place on 12 March at 10am. In mid 2013, a European regulatory roadmap relative to the integration of remotely piloted aircraft systems (RPAS) into the current European civil airspace environment will be published. This workshop is chaired by Peter van Blyenburgh from UVS International and Robin Valkenburcht from Ministry of Transport in The Netherlands.
The in-depth workshop will bring together key experts from the major regulatory groups including Ron van de Leijgraaf from Netherlands Ministry of Transport speaking on behalf of the Joint Authorities for Rulemaking on Unmanned Systems (JARUS) and Jean-Pierre Lentz from the European Commission, Directorate General Enterprise & Industry and aircraft operator associations such as Filippo Tomasello from the European Aviation Safety Agency speaking on behalf of the ICAO UAS Study Group who along with several others* will discuss the blockers and enablers to the current situation, as well as the way forward.
Another key workshop, taking place on 12 March at 2pm, will look at Writing ATM and Ground Standards for SES deployment. Before SESAR and NextGen technologies can be industrialised and deployed, a wide number of technical standards and technical specifications will have to be developed. These technical standards and specifications will facilitate operation, interoperability and cost-effective industrialisation and deployment of new systems and procedures. This session, in association with EUROCAE, includes a panel of expert speakers including Eric Sivel, Deputy Rulmaking at EASA, Jean-Michel Galais, Aviation Standard Expert for EUROCONTROL, Gilles Fartek the Director EU & NATO Affairs for INTEGRA A/S and Luc Lallouette, SESAR PMO Program Coordinator at Thales, amongst others*. The focus will be on the key challenges that European organisations tasked with developing new sets of standards will face.
The full workshop and seminar programme will allow visitors to more closely understand some of the work going on behind the scenes which is changing the market. These workshops will all run alongside the three day exhibition, conference and awards that will bring together the ATM industry.
