Gametime Raises $4 Million From Accel Partners And Prominent Professional Sports Team Investors From The Sacramento Kings, San Francisco Giants, Vancouver Whitecaps FC And Derby County FC
Colin Evans Invests and Joins As Chief Revenue Officer
SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 23, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Gametime, the zero-printing-required mobile platform for last-minute access to sporting events, has completed a $4 million financing round led by Accel Partners. The financing round also includes participation from Jeff Mallett, a principal partner of the San Francisco Giants, co-owner and director of the Vancouver Whitecaps FC and Derby County FC and former founding president and COO of Yahoo!, and Vivek Ranadive, CEO & Founder of Tibco and owner of the Sacramento Kings.
Sam Shank, Co-Founder and CEO of HotelTonight, Jared Simon, Co-Founder and COO of HotelTonight, Aaron Levie, Founder of Box, and Colin Evans, founding executive at StubHub also invested in the round. Evans came to Gametime first as an advisor, then as an investor and now joins as the Company's chief revenue officer.
Gametime provides the leading mobile-first ticketing platform for last minute sports tickets. Fans can currently buy access to MLB, NFL, NCAA, NBA, NHL and MLS venues using Gametime. The company's mobile application is currently available on iOS and Android in 18 major markets across the United States. The investment comes during a period of rapid growth, with tickets sold up upwards of 50% in August over July and up 600% since January.
