AUSTIN, Texas, Sept. 1, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Look out, Longhorns. Gatti's Pizza has "Gone to Texas" as it unveils a five-year partnership as both vendor and sponsor with The University of Texas and its nationally-recognized athletic programs.
Gatti's Pizza is a long-held Austin tradition, dating back to the 1960s, and Gatti's Pizza president Michael Poates says that teaming with such a top-tier University's athletics program is a win-win for everyone.
"We could not be more excited to be a part of this winning tradition," Poates said. "Like the Longhorns, Gatti's Pizza is a Texas tradition and now our loyal Austin customers – as well as new ones from around the state and the nation – will have an opportunity to enjoy both in one setting."
Starting this fall, students, alumni and sports fans can grab a slice during events at several on-campus locations: the North End Zone food court at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium – as well as DKR's east- and west-side concessions – two spots in The Erwin Center, and single locations at UFCU Disch-Falk Field (baseball) and Mike A. Myers Stadium (soccer and track and field).
Cheese and pepperoni pizza slices as well as pepperoni rolls will be on the menu. In addition, Gatti's Pizza will be offered year-round at the DKR food court. For those late-night study sessions or for students too busy to venture out, on-campus deliveries from the DKR food court are also available.
About Gatti's Pizza
Gatti's Pizza, based in Fort Worth, is part of the iconic Mr. Gatti's family. Mr. Gatti's first opened its doors as The Pizza Palace in Stephenville, Texas, in 1964. With a move to Austin in 1969 also came a name change, which paid tribute to the wife of founder James Eure and her maiden name: Gatti. By the 70s, the chain was experiencing dramatic growth and had become a household name. In the 80s and 90s, Mr. Gatti's expanded the concept to include GattiTown, a 25,000-square-foot family entertainment center devoting 10,000 square feet to a colossal Midway-type game room. James Eure's vision is now 97 restaurants strong and counting, including Gatti's Pizza and GattiTown restaurants. More information is available at gattispizza.com or by calling 817-546-3500.
