GBD Forum to Highlight Trade in Natural Resources

WASHINGTON, Oct. 12, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Trade in coal, natural gas, rare earths, and food will be highlighted at a forum Tuesday, October 16, at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.  This event, Resource Schizophrenia: Deciding a Trade Policy for Natural Resources, is being presented jointly by the Global Business Dialogue and the Chamber of Commerce.

GBD president, R. K. Morris , explained the issue this way:  "Americans can't decide whether they want to export coal from Montana and Wyoming through ports in Oregon and Washington, or not.  On the other hand, they are in broad agreement that China has no business restricting exports of rare earths."   These issues along with food security – a tough challenge for many countries – will be the focus of Tuesday's forum.
