GCG Contributes $50,000 to the Jackson Gabriel Silver Foundation
MELVILLE, N.Y., Jan. 11, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The Garden City Group Inc. (GCG), one of the nation's largest claims administration firms, has donated $50,000 to its charity of the year, the Jackson Gabriel Silver Foundation.
The Jackson Gabriel Silver Foundation was founded with a mission to find treatments and cures for epidermolysis bullosa (EB), a group of incurable and devastating blistering skin disorders that affect children from birth. The Silver family started this charity in 2010 to find a cure for their son, Jackson, and all other children who suffer from this terrible disease.
GCG employees took part in a variety of in-office fundraisers throughout 2010, including jeans days, books and bake sales and raffles for various items, to show their support. GCG's senior management unveiled the total amount, which included corporate matching, raised at an afternoon celebration for employees and the Silver family. It was a memorable afternoon as everyone celebrated each other's efforts and support.
"Our employees have my heartfelt gratitude for their kindness, generous commitment and support to help raise awareness and find a cure for EB," said Neil Zola, president and chief operating officer, GCG.
"The work GCG employees did in fundraising was nothing short of amazing and GCG's donation will go a very long way in helping us in our mission to cure EB," said Alex Silver, co-founder of the Jackson Gabriel Silver Foundation.
GCG is the recognized leader in legal administration services for class action settlements, bankruptcy cases and legal noticing programs, with more than 400 employees in offices coast-to-coast. The firm has handled many high-profile matters, including the General Motors bankruptcy, the $6.15 billion WorldCom settlement, the $3.05 billion Visa/MasterMoney Antitrust settlement and the $700 million Engle Trust Fund distribution.
