LONDON, July 23, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --
Experts from leading data centre provider Geist recently staged an event at The Shard in London, providing attendees with specialist insight into data centre design.
Providing a "360o overview of the data centre", the event - which took place on July 3rd - saw members of the Geist team discuss a range of the more pressing challenges facing data centre specifiers and managers, and outline detailed strategies for addressing them. The Geist team stressed the importance of good data design and planning in maximising efficiency.
Scott Harrison, Geist's EMEA sales and marketing manager, said he had been very encouraged by the way the event had gone and the response to it.
"The event was very well attended and covered many of the critical issues faced by data centre managers, and those tasked with designing facilities," he said. "We were able to demonstrate that good data centre planning and design can mitigate against unknown events and make the most efficient use of the resources available."
Following the main presentation at the event, attendees participated in a range of hands-on demonstrations and workshops with Geist experts. The four cornerstones of Geist's product portfolio - Power, Cool, Monitor and Manage - were all discussed and analysed in detail.
Geist sees these four divisions as the pillars of efficient data centre management. First formed in 1948, the company has developed an extensive range of cutting-edge data centre solutions and has built up a well-earned reputation as an industry leader.
All this took place against the spectacular backdrop of the London skyline, as the Shard - not just the tallest skyscraper in London, but also in the European Union - offers unparalleled views of the capital. The event took place on the 35th floor of the 87-storey building, which opened in February of last year.
