George P. Shultz to Receive The Economic Club of New York Award for Leadership Excellence
NEW YORK, July 28, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- George P. Shultz, a Distinguished Fellow at the Hoover Institution and former U. S. Secretary of State, has been selected by the Economic Club of New York to receive its first Economic Club Award for Leadership Excellence. Secretary Shultz will receive the Award at a dinner meeting in his honor on Monday, September 19, 2011.
The Economic Club of New York Award for Leadership Excellence is to be given biennially to an individual who has exhibited excellence in leadership in economic policy throughout his or her lifetime. Funding for the award was made possible through a generous personal donation by Peter G. Peterson.
"Through his work, George Shultz has had a profound effect on not only the economy, but the political shape of the world," Andrew Tisch, Chairman of the Club, said. "We are deeply indebted to Pete Peterson whose charitable contribution allowed for the establishment of The Economic Club of New York Prize Fund."
