GestureTek Unveils New Software Development Kit to Bring Immersive WebCam-Based Games and Applications to PCs and Other Platforms at CES
LAS VEGAS, Jan. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- GestureTek Inc., the inventor, pioneer and world leader in video gesture control software for human-computer interaction, is unveiling its new momo(TM) Software Development Kit for game developers and original equipment manufacturers at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
GestureTek's software recognizes motion and objects such as a user's face. It works with standard webcams and requires no special hardware, allowing game and application developers to bring immersive, gesture-based interactivity to virtually any platform, including PCs, laptops, mobile phones, toys and other devices.
"There's a huge market for gesture control capability, both among original equipment manufacturers and game developers," says Sanjeev Sharma, GestureTek's Vice President of Strategic Marketing. "GestureTek's SDK enables developers to easily build games and applications that leverage the webcam to achieve the same award-winning, patented video gesture control capability that GestureTek made available to Sony for the Playstation and to Microsoft for the Xbox 360."
"Gesture-control represents a significant revenue generation opportunity for original equipment manufacturers," says Sharma. "By embedding GestureTek's video gesture control software into their equipment and offering a select suite of compelling gesture control games and applications, device manufacturers can entice their users to download more chargeable applications."
"Greater accessibility to GestureTek's gesture control software is also a huge coup for game developers," says Sharma. "They now have the ability to develop gesture control games and applications for multiple platforms, making it more attractive from a business perspective to take the plunge into this exciting technology."
GestureTek's momo SDK defines interfaces for two trackers. The Motion tracker reports regions where motion is detected and the Mosaic tracker focuses on an object such as a face while it moves within the camera's field of view. The SDK comes complete with a sample Windows application.
"GestureTek has a 20 year history of inventing and pioneering technology for computer-human interaction and has developed applications for a wide range of devices and thousands of interactive installations," says Vincent John Vincent, GestureTek's Co-Founder and President.
GestureTek's momo SDK with face and motion tracking capability will be demonstrated at CES by appointment only. Reservations can be made by calling 416-340-9290 x 273.
