Getting artificial grass installed? Do your research
DANA POINT, Calif., Aug. 25, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The artificial grass business is booming. The low-maintenance, grass lawn substitute is appealing to many businesses and homeowners, but not all installers are created equal.
"We've been called out to a few homes to correct previous jobs," said Kyle Hesley, co-owner of Anchor Turf, an artificial grass installer based in Orange County. "Hiring an inexperienced installer can end up costing you double." He explained that major risks include botched cross seams, uneven surfaces, poor drainage, and frayed edges.
Botched installs are what prompted Hesley and co-owner, Will Redanz, to research everything they could about installations and create Anchor Turf. "We wanted to offer honest and quality turf installations for consumers," he said. They put together a crew of industry professionals with over 14 years of experience.
One of Anchor Turf's recent installs was a 700 square foot installation of Synthetic Grass Warehouse Diamond Pro Spring turf in Dana Point. The installation required raising the yard to make it appear larger. They also replaced the driveway, which was heavily damaged and cracked due to tree roots. Hesley said that adding flagstone with Diamond Pro Spring gave the landscape a whole different dimension and purpose.
"This installation is the perfect example of why difficult jobs require an experienced team," Hesley said. "Their new putting green was installed for their oldest child, who just started showing an interest for golf. The family is very happy with the results."
Customer satisfaction is a top priority for the two-year-old company. "It only takes one bad job to ruin your reputation," Hesley said. "We put our best into each installation, and we will continue to put in our due diligence as we grow and need to find new crew members."
Hesley said that while there are a few bad installers out there, there are great ones too. "We work with the client from start to finish and help educate them on the best product for their specific landscape," Hesley said. "Do your research, check out the different turf installers, and look at their work...it's the best way anyone and protect themselves from bad installs."
