Gigle Networks' GGL541 Mediaxtream(TM)/HomePlug(R) AV Communications IC Selected by GigaFast for Next-Generation Wireline Home Networking Products

REDWOOD CITY, Calif., BARCELONA, Spain and EDINBURGH, U.K., Jan. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Gigle Networks, the leading developer of intelligent multi-PHY switching devices for both wired and wireless entertainment grade home networking, today announced that GigaFast, a Taiwan-based consumer electronics maker, is developing products using Gigle's GGL541 dual-channel home-networking solution. Gigle's GGL541 device is the world's first solution that can deliver up to 1Gbps home-networking data rates over the home's existing powerlines.

Gigle's GGL541 offers the highest performance of any wireline IC, including up to 1Gbps data rates with the company's Mediaxtream(TM) technology, and 200Mbps over powerline using industry-standard HomePlug® AV technology. GigaFast has integrated the GGL541 into a wall-mounted Ethernet adapter that enables high-performance home networking over the home's existing powerlines.

Gigle's GGL541 device is a fully integrated single-chip solution, with physical-layer (PHY), media access control (MAC) and Smart Mesh home/Quality-of-Service (QoS)/Class-of-Service (CoS) switching capabilities. The cost-optimized device eliminates any external memory or complex support circuitry, and meets European 2011 Code of Conduct requirements for adapters and QoS, which is important for video distribution around the home.
