Gizmox Transposition is Patenting the First Digital Replacement for Manual Applications Rewrite
Over 65% of manual rewrites fail. Transposition (TS), a technology 3 years in the making, is now patent pending
RAMAT GAN, Israel, January 27, 2015 /PRNewswire/ --
Targeting the legacy application modernization space with unique technology, the TS patent, proven to be at least X10 more efficient than manual rewrites, covers a large market need. Millions of lines of code, for F500 organizations, have already been digitally rewritten using Transposition technology.
Organizations wishing to port client-server or older web applications to new Mobile, Web and Cloud architectures face resource-consuming manual rewrites. Previous attempts to automate such processes have not delivered on expectations. The algorithmic challenges involve reverse engineering, repurposing legacy elements such as business logic, recreating the app in the target environment with native code and components and finally, refactoring desktop's to Mobile & touch UX.
Gizmox TS has been developing the technology for the last 3 years. It offers the first digital app rewriter, based on a unique semantics (AST) approach.
TS performs algorithmically the manual rewrite process. Users leverage existing Transposition rules or write custom ones according to smart "suggestion" by the machine. A virtual-compiler mechanism continually tests the rules in the new environments, visualizing errors and guiding the user with fixes-rules. TS then recreates the application in the target environment.
"The traditional migration solutions do not answer today's need for application refactoring to new platforms," Said Transposition author Guy Peled. "The choices are either a manual rewrite or virtualization. The first relies on scarce skilled resources, and is risky - over 65% of rewrites fail. The second is not native and entails high cost and inferior user experience. I wrote Transposition to offer solutions to both."
"Migrating legacy applications to the latest environments can be costly for businesses," said Tom Lindeman, Director of Partner and Channel Marketing at Microsoft Corp. "Using Gizmox's TS technology with Visual Studio helps developers be more efficient during migration, saving companies time and money."
