Glaser Appointed Vice President of Marketing for Mercedes-Benz USA
MONTVALE, N.J., Feb. 1, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Mercedes-Benz USA (MBUSA) announced today the appointment of Bernhard (Bernie) Glaser to vice president of marketing for MBUSA, effective immediately. Glaser was most recently general manager, product management for MBUSA.
In his new position, Glaser will be a member of MBUSA's executive management team with overall responsibility for marketing communications, market research and product management of the Mercedes-Benz and Maybach brands in the U.S. He will report to Steve Cannon, president and CEO of MBUSA.
"Bernie brings to this job an extensive amount of experience with the product, the brand, the culture, the dealers and our customers at a time when we are planning to take every aspect of our business to new levels in this market," said Cannon.
Glaser began his career in 1992 with Mercedes-Benz in Germany, first in strategic product planning and later as worldwide product manager for the E-Class. In 1998, he came to MBUSA as department manager, coupes and convertibles. In this capacity, he was responsible for overseeing all product management of the company's SL-, SLK-, CL- and CLK-Classes for the U.S. market, including planning volumes, price positioning, and equipment level strategy.
Three years later, he returned to headquarters in Stuttgart, Germany as executive assistant to the member of the board responsible for worldwide sales and marketing of Mercedes-Benz, Maybach and smart. In 2003, he came back to MBUSA as general manager, product management, his most recent post.
Glaser holds a masters degree in business and engineering from the Karlsruhe University in Germany. A native of Germany, Glaser and his family live in Bergen County, New Jersey.
