NEW YORK and LONDON, March 4, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The Global Association of Risk Professionals, (GARP, www.garp.org) announced today that it has awarded Robert B. Litterman, Partner and Chairman of the Risk Committee and Advisory Panel, Kepos Capital LP, the 2013 Risk Manager of the Year Award at the Association's 15th Annual Risk Management Convention & Exhibition, held at the New York Marriott Marquis in New York City.
"It is an honor to receive this recognition," said Robert B. Litterman, Partner, Kepos Capital LP, "Risk management is a key aspect of all of life, and a major part of every job description. I was lucky enough to have happened to be at the right place at the right time when Goldman Sachs decided they needed a partner with the title Head of Risk Management. The partners taught me a hell of a lot about risk management. For my part, I tried to help quantify the exposures and model the distribution of potential outcomes."
On Tuesday, Richard Apostolik, President and CEO of the Global Association of Risk Professionals, said, "We are pleased to recognize Robert Litterman as GARP's 2013 Risk Manager of the Year. For the past 13 years, our global membership has nominated and recognized leaders for their expertise and contributions to the practice of risk management. Our award recipients are preeminent risk management professionals or organizations who, based on their work experience, either as a practitioner, academic or regulator, have materially contributed to the advancement of risk management practices. Congratulations to Mr. Litterman."
The Risk Manager of the Year Award was established in 1997 by the Association to recognize the outstanding contributions and positive impact made by individuals or organizations to the financial risk management profession, materially advancing and influencing its development and global advancement.
Each year, award nominations are solicited, reviewed and voted on by the GARP Board of Trustees. The award criteria are updated by the Committee and the Board on a regular basis. A list of Previous Risk Managers of the Year can be found here.
