Global Cardio Care, Inc. Announces EECP® Data for African-Americans Getting Free Therapy in Los Angeles to Address High Incidence of Cardiovascular Disease, Lack of Insurance Coverage
Sara Soulati, CEO of Global Cardio Care, Inc., the EECP Physician Management Firm, Shared EECP Therapy Data over a Seven-Year Period that Includes 1,000+ Hours of Free EECP Delivered Annually
LOS ANGELES, Oct. 5, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Sara Soulati, CEO of Global Cardio Care® Inc., a physician practice management firm focused on the delivery of Enhanced External Counterpulsation (EECP) for cardiovascular disease, today announced an underserved population of Baby Boomer African-Americans in urban Inglewood and surrounding communities in Los Angeles had received an average of 1,255 hours of free EECP treatment annually from 2007 to 2014 for an estimated total of 8,785 hours over seven years.
None of the EECP sessions were billed to Medicare or private insurance due to stringent reimbursement guidelines or health insurance companies' refusal to pay for a non-invasive, safe, FDA-cleared, and non-medicinal therapy clinically proven to alleviate chest pain, angina pectoris, symptoms of heart attack and coronary artery disease, among other illnesses.
According to the American Heart Association 2013 Update, 44.4% of African-American men and 48.9% of African-American females have cardiovascular disease.
"People living in the Los Angeles inner city come to the physician practice I manage, and they are gravely ill with no other treatment option and no insurance plan that will reimburse for their care," said Sara Soulati, CEO of Global Cardio Care, Inc. "The physician team puts them on the EECP bed and they experience my patent-pending Sara Soulati Health For Life Program, a lifestyle modification and disease prevention program. Our only concern is to save lives, and we're doing this with screening, education, treatment, and customized health coaching to encourage change in lifestyle."
EECP is a non-invasive cardiovascular therapy invented at Harvard University in the 1950s. It is delivered globally and throughout the U.S. at hospitals, physicians' clinics and at independent centers that treat coronary artery disease, acute angina pectoris, congestive heart failure, effects of heart attack and stroke, diabetes, and a variety of additional vascular diseases.
