Global Design Contest Challenges Engineers and Students to Create the Future Annual event rewards engineering innovation with $20,000 grand prize for game changing product idea
NEW YORK, March 6, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The 12th annual "Create the Future" Design Contest (www.createthefuturecontest.com) sponsored by COMSOL and Mouser Electronics, along with Intel® and Analog Devices, and produced by Tech Briefs Media Group is now open and runs through July 1, 2014. Create an innovative new product idea that benefits society and the economy for the opportunity to receive global recognition and a cash prize of $20,000.
The "Create the Future" Design Contest has been responsible for bringing attention to product designs that increase the quality of life, improve the efficiency and quality of healthcare, and help to reduce dependence on non-renewable energy sources.
"The Create the Future Design Contest does an amazing job of shining light on new product ideas and innovators. That is why COMSOL is delighted to be sponsoring the contest for the 10th year running," said Bernt Nilsson, COMSOL Senior VP of Marketing.
"Advancing technological innovation is at the heart of what we do here at Mouser and we are very excited to support design engineers by helping to sponsor this global design contest for them," said Kevin Hess, Mouser Electronics' Vice President of Technical Marketing.
Past contests have generated over 9,000 design ideas from engineers, educators, and students in more than 100 countries. Previous grand prize winning entries include a ChemoPatch capable of delivering quality early stage chemotherapy in developing countries; a key fob-sized device that makes smart phones "smarter" by enabling consumers to run a variety of low-cost sensing applications; and an economical, rapid screening device that prevents food borne illness.
This year's categories include: Aerospace & Defense, Automotive/Transportation, Consumer Products, Electronics, Machinery/Automation/Robotics, Medical Products, and Sustainable Technologies. In addition to product concepts, designs for products that have been introduced to the market within the past 12 months are eligible.
Contest entries can be submitted by an individual or a team. An independent industry panel will judge the entries. Web site visitors are invited to vote for their favorite entry. For more information on how to enter the contest, go to www.createthefuturecontest.com.
