NEW YORK, April 6, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- About Epinephrine
Epinephrine, commonly known as adrenaline, is a hormone secreted by the medulla of the adrenal gland and circulated through the bloodstream. It acts as a neurotransmitter that responds to brain signals. These signals trigger responses such as threat, excitement, danger, emotion, and stress, which stimulate the adrenal gland to secrete epinephrine in response to the changes in the body. Adrenaline prepares the body to fight against anaphylactic shock that occurs due to allergic reactions, cardiac arrest, asthma, and superficial bleeding. Chemically synthesized epinephrine is usually administered to patients suffering from the above symptoms because it stimulates the heartbeat, increases blood pressure, relaxes involuntary muscles, and constricts small blood vessels. Epinephrine is also used with local anesthetic agents such as bupivacaine and lidocaine to enhance the effect of anesthesia. It is available in injection form as well as aerosol form for inhalation.
Epinephrine auto-injector is an emergency injection ("shot") of epinephrine. It is used against life-threatening allergic reactions such as severe swelling, breathing problems, or loss of blood pressure.
TechNavio's analysts forecast the Global Epinephrine Auto-injector market to grow at a CAGR of 13.12 percent over the period 2014-2019.
