Global Leaders of Smart Grid Interoperability Convene at Clasma's Annual Grid-Interop Conference
Event Marks Fifth Anniversary of Smart Grid Constitution and Highlights Progress of First Year of Smart Grid Interoperability Panel
CHICAGO, Nov. 29, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Five years since the signing of the Smart Grid Constitution in Philadelphia and one year since the creation of the Smart Grid Interoperability Panel (SGIP) at Grid-Interop 2009, Clasma Events is again gathering Smart Grid industry leaders, utility stakeholders and policy makers at Grid-Interop to continue advancing interoperable systems, technologies and standards for the Smart Grid.
Tomorrow kicks off the four-day Grid-Interop conference, held in Chicago, Ill., featuring 130 speakers, 20-plus general sessions, and nearly 30 working group meetings, all dedicated to advancing the standards and interoperability road map for the Smart Grid.
Grid-Interop is held in partnership with the GridWise Architecture Council, the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and SGIP.
"Five years ago, Clasma Events partnered with the GridWise Architecture Council to organize a Smart Grid 'Constitutional Convention,' which later evolved into Grid-Interop," said Anto Budiardjo, president, Clasma Events. "Our industry is on the verge of reshaping how businesses and consumers interact with smarter energy systems. The progress made at Grid-Interop toward Smart Grid interoperability is at the core of revolutionizing our nation's energy grid."
Bringing together standards leaders from the United States and abroad, Grid-Interop will tackle key interoperability challenges and opportunities, ranging from cyber security and information assurance to the value of customer data and mass market connectivity.
This year's conference also marks the first anniversary of the formation of SGIP, which was established at Grid-Interop to harmonize standards and incorporate evolving technology advances.
The first day of the conference, Tues., Nov. 30, is devoted to plenary and business sessions hosted by the SGIP, along with a series of standards working sessions. The conference continues on Wednesday through Friday with an in-depth series of interoperability presentations and technology sessions, as well as nearly two dozen additional working group meetings.
This year Grid-Interop will also host an Interoperability Fair (like an interoperability "jam-session"), bringing together 18 leading speakers to expand the scope of topics relevant to the Grid-Interop audience.
The conference is being held at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Ill. For more information, visit: www.grid-interop.com.
Grid-Interop is part of Clasma's portfolio of Smart Grid, energy management and building automation conferences and summits, including ConnectivityWeek and GridWeek.
