The national pre-selections of Global Rockstar, the world's largest online music contest, ended for all 132 participant countries at 10am on December 1st, 2015. Now we know the names of the champions who will compete for the "Global Rockstar 2015" title. On December 15th, the winner will take home the grand prize of $25,000 US, together with professional musical equipment also worth about $25,000 US.
In the US, the band Steamvalve Nation, headed by singer and guitarist Terry Tuccori, triumphed over other American musicians in the pre-selections. The members of Steamvalve Nation said that they intended to engage the public with a musical journey of sound and vision. Obviously, they succeeded: their fans rewarded this plan not only with an extraordinary amount of votes on Facebook and Twitter, but also with a remarkable number of Megavotes (17200, to be exact) for music, merchandise and special goodies sold by the band on http://www.globalrockstar.com. This way, Steamvalve Nation managed to climb the national rankings. At this point, artists from all over the world have earned 1000s of dollars by selling their music and merchandise - and received a precious amount of votes for it.
For now, the Italian trash metal band Methedras is leading the global chart. Just like Steamvalve Nation, they owe most of their success to the dazzling number of Megavotes their devoted fans cast.
