GlobalShop And Internet Retailer Conference + Exhibition Partner To Bring Bricks And Clicks Together In 2016
2016 GlobalShop Centerpiece Will Focus on In-Store Digital Experiences and Travel to IRCE to Help Online Retail Envision Their Physical Environments
LAS VEGAS, March 25, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- As it kicked off its 2015 signature, eponymous event, GlobalShop, the world's largest annual store design and at-retail marketing community, today announced a collaboration with the world's largest e-commerce event, the Internet Retailer Conference + Exhibition for both of their 2016 events.
The new project is entitled 'Bricks & Clicks' and will highlight the new realities for retail and the heightened expectations of consumers for the seamless integration of online into the in-store space. In 2016, the Centerpiece exhibit will converge digital and physical retail spaces in a fully-designed retail environment.
Doug Hope, founder and show director of GlobalShop, reminded the audience that retail is on track to be the fastest adopting bricks-and-mortar business entering the physical/digital mash-up arena. He cited consistent analyst reports that find that a digital in-store experience is vital to engaging the consumer, and that infusing the retail store with these features will drive service and convenience in the retail sector. The Bricks and Clicks Centerpiece will be underwritten by a global technology provider, and will be supported by a strategic design firm as well as a leading Industry builder, all soon to be announced.
"The majority of consumers expect retailers to offer a digital experience in-store, but the majority of retailers do not offer it," said Hope. "That's where Bricks & Clicks fills the gap. Our partnership with a leading technology firm ensures bleeding-edge solutions, and by partnering with a leading builder, a highly aspirational, yet also realistic store experience will be created."
GlobalShop's centerpiece will be re-staged at IRCE's June 2016 event, reformatted to emphasize the growing dominance of the physical store in the online retail world.
"The growth in e-commerce includes an intriguing trend of online-only retailers expanding their business models to include a physical store, even if only a pop-up, driving e-commerce retailers to ponder what a physical environment of their digital brands should be," explains Craig Dooley, senior vice president and group show director of IRCE. "As companies like Warby Parker, Bonobos, Birchbox, Amazon and Nasty Gal enter bricks-and-mortar retail, IRCE taps into the expertise of the nation's largest store design event to provide insights and examples for its trendsetters. GlobalShop's production of Bricks & Clicks as a special exhibit at IRCE will bring the best of both worlds together with thought-provoking concepts for IRCE attendees to explore."
GlobalShop 2016 will be held March 23 – 25th at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas. IRCE 2016 will be held June 7-10th at Chicago's McCormick Place West. GlobalShop's parent company, Emerald Expositions, the nation's largest tradeshow production company, also owns IRCE.
