Going Green Makes Green -- Southern California Telephone and Energy Converts Corporate Headquarters to Cutting Edge Energy Efficiency Technologies Saving the Company Future Dollars

TEMECULA, Calif., March 9, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Southern California Telephone & Energy (SCT&E) has completed an energy renovation project throughout their entire building at its headquarters located in Temecula, California.  At the First Extraordinary Session SB 2X (2011), Investor Owned Utilities were directed to reach 33 percent renewable energy generation by 2020.  In response to the California law, SCT&E proposes "behind-the-meter" solutions to everyday modes of operation.

Across the roof, SCT&E spread a thermoplastic polyolefin (TPO) membrane to reflect the heat that would otherwise penetrate the roof.  This technology cuts the amount of energy consumed in the building thus taking pressure off of the Heating Ventilation & Air-Conditioning (HVAC) controls reducing energy costs and lengthens the life span of the unit itself.  Next, SCT&E engineers installed amorphous, thin film, silicon PV solar modules from Schüco (USA & German company) that produce a higher annual output per kW than standard crystalline panels. The TPO membrane installed reduces the heat increasing the efficiency of the PV panels.  An outdated electric water heater that consumed 4500 watts of electricity per year was replaced by sixty square feet of beautiful solar thermal panels.  The new modules will produce 100% of the energy needed to heat the water for the building for an entire year!

Greg Michaels , CEO of Southern California Telephone & Energy, has the resources and personnel to lead the charge in the country's precarious energy crisis.  Mr. Michaels says "America is at energy crossroads and each company must do what it takes to compete and be profitable.  Energy is something we must examine and, any reduction of those costs, increases a company's bottom line.  If businesses could cut at least 30% of their energy consumption, this would help to solve America's energy problems."
