GOL Receives Authorization to Provide Maintenance Services for Other Aircraft Models
SAO PAULO, April 10, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- GOL Linhas Aereas Inteligentes S.A. (BM&FBovespa: GOLL4 andNYSE: GOL) (S&P/Fitch:B+/B+, Moody's: B1), the largest low-fare, low-cost airline in Latin America, has received authorization from the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) to provide conventional and electrostatic painting, weighing and recalibration services for other companies' aircraft in its Maintenance Center in Confins, Belo Horizonte. The agency's authorization, which also represents a new revenue source, covers Boeing 737-700 and 737-800 Next Generation aircraft, identical to those of GOL's fleet, as well as Boeing 737-300 aircraft, part of Webjet's fleet, and other models from other manufacturers which are capable of fitting into the painting hangar.
"More than four years ago we launched a project to internalize maintenance processes. In addition to being a new business opportunity, this allows us to offer services to other companies, representing a major advance for GOL and underlining the maturity of the work developed in the Maintenance Center," declared Adalberto Bogsan, GOL's Technical Vice-President. "Our goal is to further improve the Company's techniques, train our personnel, optimize costs and post quality results."
GOL's Aircraft Maintenance Center was expanded in 2010, to reach its current capacity of up to 120 aircraft per year. The expansion absorbed investments of R$65 million, enabling the Center to undertake heavy fuselage maintenance, preventive maintenance, aircraft painting and internal aircraft configuration for GOL's entire fleet.
