Goodwill Connecting Individuals to Jobs in the Trades
Goal is to inform local residents of apprenticeships available in the building trades
BALTIMORE, Dec. 15, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Goodwill Industries of the Chesapeake, Inc. will host an Apprenticeship Day on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 from 9 am to 4 pm at its headquarters on 222 East Redwood Street.
The Apprenticeship Day is designed to introduce residents to apprentice programs and career paths available locally in the building trades. Attendees will be able to meet local representatives and learn how these programs can lead to lifelong careers.
The event will feature presentations from various apprenticeship programs throughout Baltimore City, including: Cement Masons, Pile Drivers, Carpenters, Plumbers & Steamfitters Local 486, Electricians Local 24, IUPAT/FTI Painters and Allied Trades, Sprinkler Fitters Local 669, Millwrights, Elevator Operators and Iron Workers.
Goodwill is offering this opportunity for free and it is open to the public, but pre-registration is required as space is limited to 100 people per session. Two different sessions with the same program will be offered.

The Apprenticeship Day is being offered as part of Goodwill's EMERGE Initiative. The Emerge Initiative links participants with skills training opportunities in order to increase technical skills, literacy, employability, and meet the labor market's demand for a skilled and prepared workforce. Highly skilled workers who seek these training opportunities will be able to perform in growth industries that provide career opportunities and family sustaining wages.
