Goodwill Preparing Baltimore City Youth for Careers
Youth Merchandising Training now available
BALTIMORE, July 17, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Goodwill Industries of the Chesapeake, Inc. is now accepting enrollment for its Youth Merchandising Training classes. The 12-week course begins July 22nd but enrollment is available through August 12th. Participants receive 12 weeks of nationally certified customer service training, a stipend for program participation, up to 6 weeks of paid retail training and job placement assistance upon completion.
Training Baltimore youth since July 2010, the program is a service of the Baltimore Workforce Investment Board Youth Council, The Mayor's Office of Employment Development, and Goodwill Industries of the Chesapeake, Inc., in partnership with Anne Arundel Community College, and Art with a Heart. Since its inception approximately 200 participants have graduated from the program. In 2012-2013, the program had 100 percent certification rate and an 80 percent placement rate.
Participants receive:
- Up to 12 weeks of nationally certified customer service training
- Case management support
- A stipend for program participation
- Up to 12 weeks of leadership development
- Up to 6 weeks of paid retail training
- Job Placement assistance upon completion
To be eligible for the program, participants must be:
- 16 to 21 years old
- High School graduate or GED
- Baltimore city resident
