NEW YORK, July 6, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The Ad Council announced today that Margo Georgiadis, President of Americas at Google, has been named Chair of its Board of Directors. She succeeds David Christopher, CMO, AT&T Mobility. The Ad Council Board is comprised of a prestigious group of senior executives from media companies, agencies (advertising, PR, digital and social), technology companies and advertisers. In her new role, Georgiadis will also chair the Ad Council's 2016 Annual Public Service Award Dinner, the largest fundraising event for the organization held each fall.

In her time on the Ad Council's Board, Georgiadis has spearheaded countless pro-bono collaborations between Google, YouTube and many of the Ad Council's campaigns. Under her leadership, Google has provided significant support through its Google Grants program, as well as digital and social opportunities on YouTube, including serving as a launch partner for the Ad Council's groundbreaking 'I Am A Witness' anti-bullying campaign last year. This partnership included dedicating the YouTube homepage masthead to the campaign, which generated over 100 million impressions and two million video views in one day.

Prior to Google, she was Chief Operating Officer of Groupon, Inc., Executive Vice President of Card Products and Chief Marketing Officer of Discover Financial Services, and a Partner at McKinsey and Company. In addition to her role on the Ad Council, she serves on the Board of Directors of McDonald's Corporation, Amyris, Inc., and MAKERS.
With the election of Georgiadis, the Ad Council will continue its ongoing tradition of rotating Board Chairs every year between the organization's founding sectors: media companies, agencies and corporate advertisers.
