Government Shutdown Illustrated In Provocative New Art Exhibit
ATLANTA, Oct. 2, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The first government shutdown in seventeen years begins to be felt across America on October 1, 2013 as lawmakers failed to work out a deal.
The Statue of Liberty closed its doors, and it is clear that America is divided on critical issues, such as health care, the debt ceiling, and a national budget.
Art has always addressed social issues, and Studio 905 on Juniper, in Atlanta, GA, is proud to exhibit – free to the public – "The Divided State of America", a provocative new, larger than life, nine-piece collection of paintings by San Francisco spray paint artist, Chor Boogie, commissioned by scientist, inventor, immigrant, and entrepreneur, Dr. Nirmal Mulye. The exhibit highlights the tension between the broken pieces of an ideologically fractured America.
Studio 905 on Juniper will also feature artists from around the world who were commissioned for this event addressing: "How do you feel it is to be a United States citizen today?" "How do you think America is seen in today's world?" The following artists and their works are on display: Felix Berroa, Dominican Republic; Monika Ruiz, Colombia; Jason Hollingsworth, United States; Marga Gabarret, Argentina; Ronnie Phillips, United States; Brent Walker, United States; Corey Barksdale, United States; Izak Ishark, Bangladesh; Ray Vargas, Cuba; Son of Moon, Mexico; Carlos Solis, Venezuela; and Lisa Kabus, United States.
The Grand Opening is Friday, October 11th at Studio 905 on Juniper at in Atlanta, GA from 6:00-10:00pm, and Opening Weekend on Saturday, October 12th from 2:00-10:00pm, and Sunday, October 13th from 11:00am-6:00pm.
