Governor Corbett Orders State Flags at Capitol Complex and in Allegheny County to Fly at Half-Staff to Honor Fallen Navy SEAL
HARRISBURG, Pa., Dec. 20, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Governor Tom Corbett today ordered all Pennsylvania flags in the Capitol Complex and at commonwealth facilities in Allegheny County to fly at half-staff on Friday, Dec. 21, to honor of Petty Officer 1st Class Nicholas D. Checque .
Checque, 28, of Monroeville, a 10-year decorated member of Navy SEAL Team Six was killed Dec. 9 in Afghanistan during a mission to rescue an American doctor captured by the Taliban.
State flags shall remain at half-staff until sundown on Friday, the day of Checque's burial in Arlington National Cemetery.
On Wednesday, the president ordered the United States flags to be lowered in respect for Sen. Daniel K. Inouye who died Monday at the age of 88. Flags are to remain lowered until Inouye's internment Sunday in Hawaii.
All Pennsylvanians are invited to join in this tribute.
