ATLANTA, June 21, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Great American Cookies announced today that it is partnering with the Yellow Ribbon Fund, Inc. to present the brand's first ever summer Yellow Ribbon Campaign. Kicking off on July 4th and running through September 16th, Great American Cookies will donate $2 from the online sale of every Yellow Ribbon, Uncle Sam Hat and U.S. Flag Cookie Cake to the organization. Great American Cookies is managed by GFG Management, LLC, a subsidiary of Global Franchise Group.
Founded in 2005, the Yellow Ribbon Fund provides assistance, including transportation and lodging, for injured service members and their families from across the country while they recuperate at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center and the National Naval Medical Center. For more information about the Yellow Ribbon Fund, visit www.yellowribbonfund.org.
"We're thrilled to be able to show our support for America's troops and the important work of the Yellow Ribbon Fund through this new program," said Jenn Johnston, chief marketing & operations officer for GFG Management, LLC. "Our patriotic Cookie Cake designs are a customer favorite, especially during the summer months, and we hope that the money we raise through our Yellow Ribbon Campaign will go a long way to help to ease the burden of injured service members and their families."
"We bridge gaps in services that military families desperately need when their injured loved one is medevaced to a DC-area military hospital," said Mark Robbins, executive director of Yellow Ribbon Fund, Inc. "No one else does all the things we do here. So we're excited that Great American Cookies is giving Americans another way to help us welcome our injured service members home."
The company celebrated the new program recently during New York City's 24th Annual Fleet Week by unveiling a one-of-a-kind 16' by 12' patriotic Super Cookie Cake. The Super Cookie Cake took around 20 hours to bake and decorate, weighed 400 pounds and contained 6,000 chocolate chips! Participants in the annual Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum Tug of War each received a slice and the rest of the creation was delivered to military ships in harbor for Fleet Week.
